All processes are strictly controlled at every stage of the revamping process, thanks to ceaseless and systematic inspections performed using the most modern production equipments and testing techniques. 

A COMPLETE ROLL CHECK-UP

Comesa performs a deep analysis to exactly understand all the necessary steps and items needing to be addressed for refurbishing the cassette.

• Dimensional and geometrical analysis
• Roughness
• T.I.R.
• Barrel and journal hardness
• Chrome thickness

Roll surface condition deeply affects the quality of the finished product.

Straightening, grinding and polishing are performed on each single component, to place rolls and accessories back in the optimum working condition.

If roll or component issues are found, Comesa can evaluate and suggest the best solution based on customer needs.

Advanced and specific controls have to be done to check all the single parts of the back-up roll assembly.

• Dimensional and geometrical analysis
• Check deformations (roundness, tapering, squaring, radial clearance, etc.)

Back-up rolls are always exposed to severe workloads. It is critical these rolls sustain a constant and uniform pressure on the levelling rolls.

The back-up rolls, both new and refurbished, must be of the highest quality to assure top performances to the leveller.

Cages, rolls, balls and seals must always be changed; the other parts are accurately refurbished to assure back-up roll assemblies are back to the proper, brand new, mechanical working condition.

The completely refurbished levelling cassette is ready for a new production campaign.
